Saginaw Spirit News Release
Spirit forwards Michal Birner and Tom Pyatt are preparing for action with their World Junior teams tonight in British Columbia. Birner and his Czech teammates downed Team Latvia 5-1 in the first day of the tournament, while Pyatt's Team Canada defeated Finland 5-1. Neither Pyatt nor Birner scored or assisted in the opening contests.
Team Canada faces Switzerland at 7:00 PM EDT while Team Czech Republic takes on Team Sweden.
Meanwhile, exhibition action begins tonight in the World U-17 Challenge in Alberta, where Spirit forward Zack Torquato joins Team Ontario against Team Germany. Tournament play begins tomorrow as Ontario faces Quebec.
