Otters slip past Spirit

SAGINAW, MI - Vince Scott scored a shorthanded goal to lift the Erie Otters to a narrow 4-3 win over the Saginaw Spirit in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight in front of 5,527 at The Dow Event Center.

Derrick Bagshaw, Nick Palmieri and Adam Berti also scored for the Otters, who ended a three-game losing streak with the win. Erie is now 14-16-3-1 on the season.

Anthony Soboczynski, Jesse Gimblett, Jamie Klie scored for the Spirit while Ryan McDonough collected two assists. Saginaw dropped to 19-14-0-0 with the loss.

The Spirit led 3-1 after one. The Otters scored the lone three goals in the second to carry a 4-3 advantage into the final period.

The Otters out shot the Spirit 35-28 in the game as Josh Disher posted the win. The three stars of the game were 1. Scott; 2. McDonough and 3. Klie.

The Otters return to action tomorrow (Thursday) night when they travel to Windsor to face the Spitfires. Friday the Otters are in Plymouth to face the Whalers. Both games can be heard live on SportsRadio 1330 The FAN and on-line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company). Hamot Hockey Night begins with the pre-game show at 7:15 p.m.

The next Otters home game takes place January 11th when the Mississauga IceDogs visit the Tullio Arena. Tickets for the game are available at all Erie-area TicketMaster locations as well as the Erie Civic Center Box Office.
