
Spirit Win Road Game in a Shoot-Out Against the Otters

The Saginaw Spirit took on the Erie Otters on Wednesday night, winning on the road 4 -3 in a shoot-out.
The opening period featured excellent fluid passing from both Western Conference teams, however the Spirit were able to slide one past Otter goaltender and Saginaw native, Devin Williams, on a rebound goal by Nick Moutrey, his 14th of the season, with assists coming from Jason Shaw and Buffalo Sabres prospect, Justin Kea. The first period ended Saginaw 1 - Erie 0.
The second period opened up with two Erie goals, less than one minute apart. The first Erie goal came from Connor Brown, his 25th of the season, assisted by J.P. Labardo, followed by one off Stephen Harper's stick, his 12th of the season, with assists coming from Jake Evans and Nick Betz. The Spirit fired back with a goal from Andrey Alexeev, his 7th of the season, assisted by Eric Locke and Terry Trafford. The second frame ended with the score tied at 2.
After a great goaltending duel in the third, the Otters were able to score on a power play by Stephen Harper, his 13th of the season, with assists coming from Luke Carins and Dane Fox. The Spirit came back to tie the game on a tally by Chicago Blackhawks prospect, Garret Ross, his 27th of the season, assisted by Terry Trafford and Jason Shaw. The score at the end of the third was Saginaw 3 - Erie 3.
As both teams headed into overtime, neither team was successful in scoring the game winning goal. The Spirit took the game on a shoot - out goal by Gregg Sutch. The game ended Saginaw 4 - Erie 3, with the shots on goal Erie 35 - Saginaw 23.
