
Otters lose to Spirit in shootout, 4-3

Erie, Pa. - Gregg Sutch scored the only goal in the shootout to lead the Saginaw Spirit to a 4-3 win over the Erie Otters Wednesday night in front of 3,370 at Erie Insurance Arena.
Nick Moutrey broke the ice for the Spirit as he scored just over six minutes into the game for his 14th tally of the season.
The Otters tied the game 1:38 into the second period on Connor Brown's shorthanded goal. J.P. Labardo beat goaltender Jake Paterson to a loose puck and found Brown in front just before Paterson could get to the shot on the glove side, giving Brown his team-leading 25th goal of the season.
Stephen Harper put the Otters in front 55 seconds later with his 12th goal of the season. Harper blasted a shot from the top of the right circle and beat Paterson top shelf on the glove side.
Andrey Alexeev tied the game for the Spirit at 7:59 as he faked a pass towards the net and fired a shot through the blocker of Devin Williams for his seventh goal of the season.
Harper scored his second goal of the game on Erie's first power play early in the third period, blasting a shot from the right point between the legs of Paterson at 3:08.
Garret Ross tied the game for the Spirit with 5:48 left in regulation to force overtime. The Otters had a power play with 1:30 remaining, but were unable to get the game-winner.
Sutch scored in the second round of the shootout to give the Spirit the advantage. Harper was denied on his shootout attempt in round three, giving the Spirit the second point.
