
Spirit Welcome Andrew Plate as Athletic Trainer

SAGINAW, MI -Â The Saginaw Spirit are excited to welcome Andrew Plate MEd, ATC to the team as Athletic Trainer. He will arrive in Saginaw in time for training camp scheduled for late August.
"I am thrilled to continue my hockey journey in Saginaw, with the Spirit," said Plate. "I have heard nothing but good things from Chris (Lazary) and Dave (Drinkill). This is a first-class organization, who does things the right way. I am proud to be a part of the family."
The 26-year-old native of Monroeville, Pennsylvania graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in May of 2014 and earned his Masters from Penn State in 2016. While attending Penn State, Plate played hockey for the Penn State Intramural Men's Hockey Team.
Plate began his training experience doing rotational work as a student with Penn State's Men's Hockey, Men's and Women's Swimming, Men's Lacrosse, and Men's and Women's Rugby. While working on his Masters, Plate continued to work as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer with Penn State's Men's and Women's Rugby Club and Men's and Women's Volleyball.
Plate was hired by the Wenatchee Wild of the British Columbia Hockey League (Jr. A) as Athletic Trainer in August of 2016. In his time with the Wild, the team enjoyed great success winning the regular season championship during the 2016-17 season. The next season, Wenatchee won the Fred Page Cup, as well as Doyle Cup, and were Royal Bank Cup Semi-finalists.
Plate is CPR/AED certified, a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, and the Professional Hockey Athletic Trainers Society.
