Barrie, Ont. - The Saginaw Spirit (18-7-2-0) continue their road trip by taking on the Barrie Colts (11-9-2-1) Thursday, December 8, at Sadlon Arena in Barrie, Ontario.

Saginaw defeated the Erie Otters 8-3 Tuesday, December 6, at the Erie Insurance Arena in Erie, Pennsylvania. Newest Spirit player Hunter Haight earned four points, while center Luke McNamara notched a goal and two assists in the win.

The Colts grabbed the extra point in a 3-2 overtime win over the Sarnia Sting Sunday, December 4, at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena in Sarnia, Ontario. Beau Akey earned two assists in the win. Connor Punnett scored his fifth goal of the season in the extra frame.

This will be the first of two meeting between the Colts and Spirit in the 2022-2023 campaign. It's also the first time Barrie and Saginaw have met since a 6-5 overtime win by the Colts on February 20, 2020. Thursday night will mark the first time that center Hunter Haight plays his former team. Haight was acquired by the Spirit in a trade with Barrie on December 1. In just three games with Saginaw, Haight has three goals and five assists for eight points.
Players to Watch:
Rookie Zayne Parekh has an eight-game point streak that includes two points in Tuesday's game against the Otters. In that span, Parekh has recorded eight goals, four assists, and 12 points. Pavel Mintyukov leads all Ontario Hockey League defensemen in points (36) and leads the Spirit in assists with 24. Exceptional Status forward Michael Misa's 15 goals are the most for any Saginaw player. Tristan Lennox's 3.07 goals against average (GAA) and .889 save percentage (SV%) lead all Spirit goaltenders.
Ethan Cardwell's 28 points and 12 goals are the most for any Barrie skater. Evan Vierling leads the Colts in assists with 17. Ben West leads his club with a 3.72 GAA and an .896 SV%.
Saginaw has four (4) players drafted into the National Hockey League (NHL), including Pavel Mintyukov (Anaheim), Matyas Sapovaliv (Vegas), Tristan Lennox (New York Islanders), and Hunter Haight (Minnesota).
Barrie has six (6) players drafted into the NHL, including Ethan Cardwell (San Jose), Declan McDonnell (Tampa Bay), Evan Vierling (New York Rangers), Brandt Clarke (Los Angeles), Artur Cholach (Vegas), and Anson Thorton (Arizona, FA).
