
Spirit Start Three Game Weekend With 4-1 Victory Over Sting

(Sarnia, ON) The Saginaw Spirit beat the Sarnia Sting 4-1 Thursday night to extend their consecutive win streak to four games. The Spirit saw goal scoring from T.J. Brodie, Jordan Skellett, Garret Ross and Ivan Telegin. Edward Pasquale earned the game's first star award after posting 28 saves on 29 shots. The Spirit are in third place in the OHL Western Conference with 24 points and a record of 11-4-2-0.
The game would remain scoreless until the latter part of the second period when a Spirit powerplay goal propelled Saginaw to a 1-0 lead. Defenseman T.J Brodie (NHL CALGARY FLAMES) tallied the marker at 16:01 in the second courtesy an assist from fellow blueliner Nick Crawford (NHL BUFFALO SABRES).
The third period would see the Spirit seal the victory with three more goals. Winger Jordan Skellett would score at the 2:44 mark, assisted by defenseman Cody Sol (NHL ATLANTA THRASHERS) and winger Joe Pleckaitis. Rookie Garret Ross would tally his third goal of the season at 10:03 in the third, moving the score to 3-0. Defenseman Nick Trecapelli and center Vince Trocheck assisted on the goal. The Sting rallied in the final minute to break the shutout, thanks to a goal from winger Kale Kerbashian that was assisted by defenseman Brent Sullivan and center Miroslav Preisinger. OHL Rookie of the Month Ivan Telegin would respond for the Spirit in the final seconds however, with a goal that was assisted by defenseman Joe Underwood. The game ended with another Spirit victory, a 4-1 decision in regulation.
Saginaw goalie Edward Pasquale (NHL ATLANTA THRASHERS) tallied 28 saves on 29 shots while Sarnia netminder Adam Courchaine (NHL BOSTON BRUINS) posted 27 saves on 31 shots.

The Spirit host the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Sunday, November 8 at 4:00 PM. The game will feature a Special Olympics Fundraiser and a Salute to Veterans. Veterans and active military personnel can receive a special ticket rate of $5.00 (per upper level ticket) for the November 8 game by showing their ID at the Spirit Store or The Dow Event Center Box Office. The first 2,500 fans will also receive a US hand flag courtesy American Legion Post 18 of Bay City.
