Spirit Spoil Pioneers\' Home Opener

Elmira, N.Y.- The North Shore Spirit got out to an early 6-0 lead against Elmira starting pitcher Soichi Kamimura and never looked back, defeating the Pioneers 11-4 on Monday night at Dunn Field in the Pio's home opener.

Trey Beamon kept his hot bat rolling against the Spirit going 2-4 with a homerun a single and three RBI. Beamon hit a solo shot in the fourth over the scoreboard in right to make it a 6-1 game followed by a two-run single in the sixth to make it 8-3. North Shore would go on to pick up three more runs in the eighth inning against Elmira reliever Ryan Cosentino to make it 11-3. Ryan Morgan then closed out the scoring in the ninth hitting a solo blast to right making it 11-4.

Vic Davilla went 3-5 with three runs scored and three RBI, including two doubles while Travis Ogelsby went 2-3 with two RBI and three runs scored with one homerun for North Shore.

Three Pioneers had multi hit games in addition to Beamon's two hits Jason Tuttle knocked out a pair of singles while Jobu Morita went 2-4 with a pair of doubles.

On the hill Kamimura (0-1) took the loss allowing four runs, three earned on three hits and four walks over 2 2/3 innings. Bryan Morse (1-0) got the win for North Shore going five innings allowing three runs, all earned on eight hits while striking out three.
