Saginaw Spirit News Release
The Saginaw Spirit have selected Mississauga native Matthew Corrente as their first pick in the 2004 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection. Corrente is a 6'0", 185 pound, 16 year old defenseman who played with the Vaughan Tier II Junior A Vipers in 2003-04.
"I'm thrilled to be adding a player with the character and ability of Matt Corrente to the Spirit," said Spirit General Manager Bob Mancini. "We are looking forward to having his presence on our blue line starting this fall."
Corrente says he's very interested in coming to Saginaw to play hockey. "I visited Saginaw with my dad and saw a couple of Spirit games. The fans are just great," Corrente said. "Saginaw is a great hockey town and I can't wait to get the new season going!"
Corrente had 5 goals, 14 assists and 113 penalty minutes and was +6 in 38 games with Vaughan.
