The Spirit play two games this week (details below) after going 1-1 last week. Saginaw is 5-3 and in second place in the West Division, three points behind the Plymouth Whalers. The Spirit are tied for fourth place in the Western Conference with the Owen Sound Attack

League Leaders: Spirit captain Patrick McNeill and Matt Corrente are tied for fifth in scoring among defensemen with 11 points, Michal Birner is tied for fifth in the league for goals scored with 10 goals. The Spirit have four of the top five players in plus-minus (McNeill, Corrente, McDonough, Birner).

Chasing a Franchise Mark: Tom Pyatt's three point weekend gives him 77 points in Spirit uniform, tops in the Spirit team history. The next mark is Chris Thorburn's 170 points. Thorburn's include points scored in North Bay with the Centennials. Pyatt's 48 assists are three behind the team mark of 51, set by Jean-Michel Rizk 2002-2005.

Saturday, October 22nd Sault Ste. Marie @ Saginaw, 7:11pm The Dow Event Center, Wendler Arena

The Spirit were 2-5-1-0 against the Greyhounds during the 2004-05 season. The Spirit were 0-2 in exhibition action against the Hounds this season. The Sault enters the week at 5-5, with 10 points, in fourth place in the West Division. Former Hound Jeff Carter is now logging regular ice time in Philadelphia with the Flyers. The Hounds top scorers are Pittsburgh Penguins draft pick Tyler Kennedy and Ryan Kitchen. Highly regarded prospect Ryan McInerney left the team in early October. Goaltender Kyle Gajewski is third in goals against average (2.75) and seventh in save percentage (.911), logging time in all ten Greyhounds games. Former Greyhound and NHL veteran Craig Hartsburg is back behind the bench. He is a former coach of the year and is known for getting most out of his players.

Sunday, October 23rd, 2005. Belleville @ Saginaw, 2:00pm The Dow Event Center, Wendler Arena

The Spirit were 2-0 against the Bulls during the 2004-05 season.

The 3-6-0-0 Bulls are on an upswing, with a two game winning streak on the line this week. The Bulls offense features the OHL's 2004 first over-all pick, John Hughes and veteran forward and Chicago Blackhawks pick Evan Brophy up front. Goalie Kevin Lalande is logging the majority of ice-time between the pipes for the Bulls.

General Manager and Head Coach George Burnett enters his second season behind the bench after moving from the Oshawa Generals.
