
Spirit Fall to Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds

The Saginaw Spirit faced off against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Wednesday night at the Essar Centre. The teams met for the seventh time this season, with the Spirit falling to the Greyhounds 12-5.
After 20 minutes of play the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds led the Saginaw Spirit 5-1. The Greyhounds' Nick Ritchie tallied two goals while Sergey Tolchinsky, Justin Bailey, and Michael Bunting each saw one goal respectively. The lone goal in the first period for the Spirit came off of a power play from Connor Brown, his 15th of the season. Assists on the goal went to Marcus Crawford and Tye Felhaber. The teams went to their locker rooms with shots on goal reading in favor of Sault Ste. Marie 12, Saginaw 4.
The second period saw four more goals for the Greyhounds to bring their lead going into the third, 9-3. Nick Ritchie scored 2 more for Sault Ste. Marie, while Justin Bailey and Hayden Verbeek each tallied one. Saginaw's Dylan Sadowy scored his 26th of the season with a lone assist by Mitchell Stephens at 9:16 of the second. Stephens responded with his own goal at 13:38 with an assist by Jesse Barwell. Shots on goal for the second period favored the Greyhounds 17-14.
Saginaw's Tye Felhaber found the back of the net twice in the third period, which places him at eight goals overall for the season. His first goal came with assists by Connor Brown and Artem Artemov. The second for Felhaber at 19:07 had a lone assist by Artemov. Yet, Sault Ste. Marie added three goals in the third by Bailey, Verbeek, and Anthony DeAngelo to finish out the night with a final score of 12-5 over Saginaw. Final shots on goal were in favor of the Greyhounds 38-32.

The Saginaw Spirit comes home to the Dow Eventer Center Friday, January 16th for a pair of weekend matchups. Friday the 16th the Spirit will face the Sudbury Wolves with a game time of 7:11 p.m. Come and show your support for Alzheimer's Awareness night! For the second game of the weekend the Guelph Storm will travel to the Dow Event Center to face the Spirit on Saturday the 17th with a puck drop time of 7:11 p.m.
