Spirit Fall to Generals During First Night of Ice Blast

The Saginaw Spirit took on the Oshawa Generals on Friday night, falling at home 6 - 4.

The game opened up with a powerful goal from Jimmy Lodge, his 22nd of the season, assisted by Chicago Blackhawks prospect, Garret Ross and Eric Locke. The Generals fired back to tie the game by Scott Sabourin, his 25th of the season, with assists coming from Matt Petgrave and Geoffrey Schemitsch. Oshawa quickly tallied another to take the lead from a goal by Philadelphia Flyers prospect, Colin Suellentrop, his 5th of the season, assisted by Columbus Blue Jackets prospect, Boone Jenner. Spirit Captain, Garret Ross and Eric Locke set up the perfect finish for Jimmy Lodge, his 23rd of the season, to tie up the game. The first period ended tied at 2.

The Spirit and the Generals came out strong in the second. The Spirit scored first in the period, coming from Eric Locke, his 34th of the season, assisted by Jimmy Lodge and Dalton Young. The Generals would fire back with three more goals this period. The first was an unassisted tally by Boone Jenner, his 35th of the season. Then, Philadelphia Flyers prospect, Scott Laughton quickly fired back two more shots, both adding to the Generals' score, giving him 19 goals this season. Laughton's first goal was assisted by Bradley Latour and Scott Sabourin, and on his second goal, the assist came from Bradley Latour. The period ended Oshawa 5 - Saginaw 3.

Both teams put up a solid effort in the third. Jimmy Lodge scored his third of the night for the hat trick, his 24th of the season, assisted by Dalton Young and Detroit Red Wings prospect, Jake Paterson. The Generals fired back to keep the lead on a tally by Scott Laughton, also gaining a hat trick tonight, his 20th of the season, with assists coming from Scott Sabourin and Bradley Latour. The game ended Oshawa 6 - Saginaw 4, with shots on goal Oshawa 39 - Saginaw 32.
