Spirit Fall in Second Round Opener 5-2

On Friday night, the Saginaw Spirit were defeated by the London Knights by the score of 5-2. Scoring for the Spirit were Eric Locke and Brad Walch. Jake Paterson made 32 saves in net for the Spirit.

London got on the board early when Jarred Tinordi fired a shot past Jake Paterson to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. Two minutes later, Saginaw would answer back on the power play as Eric Locke would convert to tie the game up. With 2:30 to go in the period, Matt Rupert netted his first of the playoffs to put London back on top 2-1.

The second period would remain scoreless until Greg McKegg scored on the power play for London to extend the Knight's lead to 3-1.

At the 5:34 mark of the third period, London would score another power play goal, this time off the stick of Austin Watson to push the score to 4-1. Minutes later, Saginaw would get back to within two goals as Brad Walch would fire a shot past London goaltender Michael Houser. Saginaw would continue to put pressure on the Knights, and with two minutes left they would pull goaltender Jake Paterson for an extra attacker. London however, would find the empty net with one minute remaining in the third period, sealing the victory by the score of 5-2.
