
Spirit Earn Point with 4-3 OT Loss to Spitfires

(Saginaw, MI) The Saginaw Spirit earned a point in a hard fought overtime loss to the Windsor Spitfires Friday night. The team's record moves to 32-25-7-2 with a total of 73 points. The Spirit are tied with the Plymouth Whalers for 7th place in the OHL Western Conference. Brad Smith, David Jarram, and Joe Pleckaitis notched the goals for the Spirit.
Windsor winger Eric Wellwood netted the first goal of the game at 7:02 in the first period, with assists from center Joshua Bailey and defenseman Ryan Ellis. Answering back was Saginaw center Brad Smith, who scored a goal at 18:13 in the period. Winger Thomas Zaborsky (NYR) and defenseman Adam Comrie were credited with the assists. The two teams continued to battle through the second period, but the Spitfires took the lead thanks to winger Jordan Nolan, who scored a powerplay goal at 16:38 in the second. Defensemen Rob Kwiet and Elgin Reid assisted on the play.
Winger Joe Pleckaitis tied the game at 6:08 of the 3rd period, assisted by winger Thomas Zaborsky and center Tyler Murovich. Winger David Jarram tallied a goal at the 16:12 mark, giving the Spirit at 3-2 lead. Center Brad Smith assisted on the goal. A last minute powerplay goal notched with less than one second left tied the game and moved the contest into overtime. Center Taylor Hall scored the game tying goal and was assisted by center Joshua Bailey and Adam Henrique.
The game was sent into a 4-on-4 5:00 minute overtime, where the Spitfires would take home the win thanks to Hall notching his second of the evening at the 1:54 mark. Joshua Bailey and Rob Kwiet assisted on the goal.
Spirit goalie Ryan Daniels (OTT) finished the game with 44 saves. Windsor's Jakub Kovar (PHI) had 27 saves.

The Spirit will head to Sault Ste. Marie tomorrow to take on the Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. The Spirit conclude the 2007-2008 regular season with a 4:00 p.m. match-up against the Plymouth Whalers. The annual Jersey Auction, with the proceeds going to benefit the Saginaw Spirit Charitable Foundation, will take place post-game.
