Rangers set franchise win and attendance record

Kitchener ON: Mikkel Boedker and Justin Azevedo each scored twice and added an assist before 6,565 fans at The Aud to lead the Rangers to a 4-1 win over the Sarnia Sting.

Mikkel Boedker opened the Rangers scoring with his 27th goal of the season just 36 seconds into the first period. Justin Azevedo gave the Rangers up 2-0 on a power play goal at the 12:25 mark. Daniel Lombardi brought Sarnia within one goal at the 19:24 mark of the first period.

Boedker and Azevedo each scored their second goal of the game to increase the Rangers lead to 4-1 after two periods.

The third period remained scoreless.

The Rangers win was their 53rd of the season and set a new franchise record for regular season wins. They also set a new attendance record of 205,124 fans which was previously 202,383 in the 2005-06 season.

Three lucky fans left this evening after winning big at our fan appreciation night. Earl Hawthorne was the winner of a $250 gift certificate to the Outpost, Luke Miller won a trip for two to Montreal and Robin McFalls was the grand prize winner of a trip for four to Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

The Rangers travel to Windsor this Sunday for a 2:00 pm game.
