Spirit Defeat the Spitfires 7-2
November 26, 2022 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Windsor Spitfires News Release
The Spitfires could never find their legs and found themselves trying to catch the game from behind and ultimately fell 7-2.
In the first period, it was the Saginaw Spirit scoring the games first goal just a minute into this one. It was the third game in a row where the Spitfires let up the first goal in the first two minutes of play. However, just 5 minutes later the Spitfires would respond. Morneau got the puck to DeAngelis who passed it to Christopoulos and he skated in over the line and ripped his 16th of the season blocker side to tie the game at 1. Halfway through the period, Saginaw would score on a powerplay to take a 2-1 lead. The Spirit had a narrow 9-8 shot advantage after the first period.
In the second period, the Spirit scored just over a minute in to take a 3-1 lead. That was the lone goal of the period. The Spitfires fired off 9 shots in the period but Lennox stopped them all.
In the third period, the Spirit scored just 2 and a half minutes into the frame to take a 4-1 lead. The Spirit would record 3 more goals to lead 7-1. Greentree would score late in the game for his 4th of the season and make it a 7-2 game.
The Spitfires are back in action on Thursday December 1st when the Oshawa Generals come to town. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm.
