Spirit Conclude Preseason Schedule with Two Games this Weekend

The Saginaw Spirit will face off against a familiar foe in a home and home set that will wrap up this season's exhibition schedule. Saginaw will face division rival Sault Ste. Marie in a pair of games beginning Friday, September 16 when the team travels to the Essar Center for a 7:35 start. The two teams will take the ice for a return engagement at the Dow Event Center on Saturday, September 17 at 7:11.

The Spirit may welcome back some of their veteran talent to the fold for the games against the Greyhounds as NHL Rookie Camps wind down this week. Eight Saginaw roster players have been away at various camps and rookie tournaments, as they await word on invitations to NHL main camps. The players include Jamie Oleksiak (Dallas), John McFarland (Florida), Brandon Archibald (Columbus), Brandon Saad (Chicago), Vince Trocheck (Florida), Anthony Camara (Boston), Josh Shalla (Nashville), and Garret Ross (Washington Invite).

The Saginaw Spirit 2011/12 regular season opener is slated for Friday, September 23 as they travel to London to meet the Knights. Home opening weekend is scheduled for Friday, September 30 against the Kitchener Rangers and Saturday, October 1 when they play host to the Ottawa 67's in a game that will feature the raising of the banner acknowledging the Spirit's 2010/11 West Division Regular Season Title.
