
Spirit Captain Chappell Finalist for Overage Player of the Year

(Saginaw, MI) Saginaw Spirit captain Chris Chappell was named the runner up for the prestigious Ontario Hockey League's Leo LaLonde Memorial Trophy, given to the league's most outstanding overage player. Sarnia Sting forward Justin DiBenedetto secured the top honors.
Chappell doubled his point production from last season and lead the team in scoring with 38 goals and 38 assists (76 points) in 68 regular season games, 2 goals and 8 assists (10 points) in 8 playoff games. The Pickering, Ontario native earned 70 goals and 84 assists (154 points) in 248 regular games played over four seasons in the league, all with the Spirit. In addition to being named team captain for the 2008-2009 hockey season, Chappell represented the Spirit at the 2009 OHL All Star Classic.
