
Majors Downed by Battalion in Game Five

Brampton, ON - After turning the tables and downing the Brampton Battalion in the past two contests to tie the semi-final series at 2-2, the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors traveled to Brampton for the fifth match-up tonight but were forced to swallow a tough loss. Mississauga was doubled up 4-2, as they bring the series back to the Hershey Centre tomorrow evening for the sixth game.
In the 1st period, Anthony Peluso produced the opening goal at 9:59 to put the Battalion up 1-0 while Matt Duchene and Evgeny Grachev got the assists, heading into intermission.
Brampton went ahead 4-0 in the 3rd period to create some more distance between the two teams. Cody Hodgson and Sam Carrick each picked up a tally at 7:09 (power-play) and at 14:24 respectively. Duchene, Peluso, Hodgson and Alexander Eriksson were the helpers. Then, Grachev rounded out the frame with a marker at 16:49 off of passes from Eriksson and Hodgson.
The Majors got on the board early in the 3rd period as Mike Pelech jumped on a loose puck in front of the Battalion net and scored at 2:39 to break the goose egg. Jordan Mayer and Kaspars Daugavins provided the feeds. Josh McFadden cut the lead in half for Mississauga at 10:55 with the lone assist coming from Blake Parlett. But the score remained at 4-2, as the game came to a close.
JP Anderson got the start in net for the Majors and made 26 saves before being replaced by Chris Carrozzi at the start of the final period, who blocked 11 shots of his own. Thomas McCollum turned aside 28 shots for the Battalion. Mississauga went 1 for 6 on the power-play while Brampton closed out 2 for 8 on the evening. The stars of the game were Hodgson (1st), Grachev (2nd) and Peluso (3rd).
The Majors return to Mississauga tomorrow night for Game #6 against the Battalion at 7:30 p.m.
