Saginaw, Mich. - The Saginaw Spirit (32-12-0-1) will host the Soo Greyhounds (31-12-2-1) for the final time this season on Wednesday, January 31st, at the Dow Event Center.

Last Time:

The Saginaw Spirit welcomed the Windsor Spitfires to the Dow Event Center on Sunday, January 28th. Jorian Donovan scored the first goal, unassisted, followed by Alex Christopoulos scoring on his former team. Sebastien Gervais added two goals of his own, and Michael Misa closed the scoring with his 24th of the season. Nolan Lalonde stopped 26 of 28 in his team-record 11th consecutive victory. Joey Costanzo started in net for the Spitfires, saving 19 of 23 shots on goal before being replaced by Max Donoso who stopped 21 of 22.

The Soo Greyhounds hosted the Sarnia Sting on Sunday, January 28th, at the GFL Memorial Gardens. The game went back and forth with Jack Beck scoring for the Greyhounds followed by Tyson Doucette scoring for the Sting. Andrew Gibson scored another goal for the Soo but Sarnia's Carter Kostuch answered right back. Bryce McConnell-Barker scored the game winning goal for the Greyhounds giving them a 3-2 victory over the Sting. Charlie Schenkel stopped 22 of 24 shots for the Soo while Nick Surzycia stopped 33 of 37 shots for Sarnia.

Last Matchup:

The Saginaw Spirit are 2-2-0-1 against the Soo Greyhounds this season with their last matchup being on December 31st at the GFL Memorial Gardens. Marco Mignosa opened up the scoring but Michael Misa and Sebastien Gervais responded with a goal each. Jack Beck scored at the end of the second, but Michael Misa answered, scoring his second goal of the night just 30 seconds into the third period. Ethan Hay scored halfway through the third, which proved to be the game-winner in a 4-3 contest. Andrew Oke saved 23 of 26 shots on goal for Saginaw while Charlie Schenkel saved 20 of 24 shots on goal for the Soo.

Players to Watch:

Zayne Parekh continues to lead the team in assists (44), second in the OHL, and in points (66), fifth in the OHL. Parekh has also scored an additional 22 goals, second on the team behind Michael Misa (24). Andrew Oke continues to lead in all major goaltending categories including a 2.98 goals against average (GAA), fourth in the OHL, a .890 save percentage (SV%), and 20 wins.

Early season acquisition Jack Beck currently leads the Soo in points (58) and assists (40). Gavin Hayes leads the team in goals (26) with ten being power play goals. Charlie Schenkel leads in all major goaltending categories for the Greyhounds including a 3.01 GAA, a .889 SV%, 21 wins, and two shutouts.

Saginaw currently has ten players tied to the National Hockey League (NHL), including Joey Willis (Nashville), Josh Bloom (Vancouver), Matyas Sapovaliv (Vegas), Hunter Haight (Minnesota), Owen Beck (Montreal), Ethan Hay (Tampa Bay), Braden Haché (Florida), Jorian Donovan (Ottawa), Rodwin Dionicio (Anaheim), and Nolan Lalonde (Columbus, FA).
