S P I N - N O T E S:

Spinners Can ' t Weather Storm: After an early Spinners lead was erased by the Vermont Lake Monsters after just four innings, the Spinners and Lake Monsters traded runs in the sixth before Vermont added an insurance run in the eighth to sweep the brief two-game set and conclude the season series between the two teams, 8-6...The two teams weathered a rain delay that lasted one hour and one minute, finishing the game in a light mist in front of a few brave fans who waited out the lightning and down pour.

Fast Start : After two quick first inning outs, the Spinners rallied for five runs with SS Mauricio Dubon ' s three-run home run the big blow in the inning...The home run was Dubon ' s second of the week after he hit an inside-the-park home run Monday, July 21 at Auburn...The Spinners are now 12-8 this season when scoring first and 0-17 now when trailing after eight innings, finding no late-inning magic.

Longhi Out : The season is over for OF Nick Longhi, who was set to undergo surgery on his thumb Thursday morning...Longhi injured his thumb sliding into third base July 21 at Auburn and it was revealed the injury would require surgery...The 18-year old ends the season with a .330 average, third best in the New York-Penn League, with a team-best 10 doubles and 10 RBI...Longhi is the latest Red Sox top prospect to have his season in Lowell ended early due to injury, joining OF Ryan Kalish ( ' 07), OF Ryan Westmoreland ( ' 09) and 3B Garin Cecchini ( ' 11).

Monge Jumps Right In: With Longhi done for the season, the Spinners had a need for another outfielder and OF Joseph Monge arrived Wednesday from the Gulf Coast League Red Sox and immediately was placed into the lineup, batting eighth and playing centerfield...Monge went 1-for-4 in his Spinners debut.

Nine Straight for Travis: After waiting until the eighth inning to extend his hitting streak to eight-games Tuesday, 1B Sam Travis did not delay things Wednesday, pushing his hitting streak to nine-games with his first inning single...OF Nick Longhi has the season-long streak for the Spinners, a 14-game streak from June 25 through July 12, the second longest-streak in the New York-Penn League this season.

Vermont Power : With the conclusion of the season series between the Spinners and Vermont, the Spinners main source of power will be done, as 12 of the Spinners 22 home runs have come against Vermont, highlighted by 3B Jordan Betts, who hit three of his five home runs against the Lake Monsters.

Triple Time : OF Mike Meyers scored two with a two-run first inning triple, his league leading fifth triple of the season...Meyers has been on a tear of late, reaching base in 10 straight games, while recording hits in seven of his last 10...During the stretch, Meyers is batting .353 (12-for-34), adding nine RBI...For Meyers, the triples have come in bunches, with three coming since the July 18 game at Batavia...The stretch has raised Meyers average from .203 to .258 and his OBP from .239 to .311.

McAvoy to Buttrey : The Spinners will go from RHP Kevin McAvoy, set to throw two innings and RHP Ty Buttrey to follow...McAvoy has thrown six scoreless innings as a professional, allowing just three hits.
