Lowell Spinners News Release

LOWELL, MA - After picking up the sweep on the road, the Lowell Spinners (3-2) returned home looking to stay above .500 at LeLacheur Park, but were unable to do so - falling to the Brooklyn Cyclones (4-1) in a pitcher's duel by a final score of 2-1.

The Cyclones got on the board first when, with runners on first and third, Ranfy Adon scampered home when Wilmer Reyes was caught stealing second base, giving Brooklyn an early 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third inning, *Luke Bandy* - was making his professional debut - led the inning off with a double, his first professional hit. Bandy finished the night going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

After *Xavier Legrant *popped out to third base, *Alex Erro - *who was also making his professional debut - grounded the ball up the middle, driving in Bandy from second, and tying the score at one run apiece.

*Bryan Lucas *got the start on the mound for the Spinners and, although he was charged with the loss, his stats really don't tell the story. Lucas went five strong innings allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits while striking out five.

In the sixth inning, Lucas yielded way to the bullpen when *Joan Martinez *entered the ballgame and turned in another strong performance. Martinez pitched two perfect innings, striking out three.

In addition to Bandy and Erro, *Jaxx Groshans* also made his professional debut. Groshans was unable to pick up a hit, going 0-for-3 in the game

The Spinners are back in action on Wednesday night when they take on the Cyclones in the second of three.
