State College Spikes News Release

(STATE COLLEGE, PA) -The State College Spikes are welcoming Penn State students as they return to classes with a slew of student-related promotions and specials for the remaining eight home games of the 2008 season.

Beginning today, students showing a valid Penn State student ID can receive $3 off any ticket, a $2 soft drink and a $1 hot dog as part of the 3-2-1 Deal. The special offer will run through the end of the Spikes home season on September 4th.

Next Thursday, August 28th, the Spikes will celebrate that place in life everyone has been in with "Stone Broke College Student Night." The festivities will include the first 250 students through the gates receiving a box of macaroni and cheese and one lucky student will receive the College Student Survival Kit, including items such as laundry detergent, shower shoes, Ramen Noodles and coffee. Students will have the chance to win laundry quarters and throughout the night Stone Broke College Students will be the theme of in-game promotions, with the quarter toss replacing the water balloon toss, as well as a toliet paper toss during the game. The Philly Phanatic will be on hand to entertain fans of all ages at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Thursday night as well.

The Spikes will help out Penn State students again on Tuesday, September 2nd, by giving away dorm room essentials with Pimp Your Dorm Room Giveaways. Throughout the night the Spikes will give away over $500 worth of college-living necessities from a flat screen TV to an iPod Shuffle. With all the college activity going on in the area, what better way to pay tribute to the college lifestyle than with a Salute to Animal House? In addition to the Animal House Salute, the Spikes will also host Greek Night and THON Night on September 2nd as the team takes on the Batavia Muckdogs (St. Louis Cardinals).

The Spikes play the Jamestown Jammers (Florida Marlins) tonight at 7:05 p.m., as Medlar Field at Lubrano Park celebrates Back To School Night. The first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive a Spikes Sling Bag. Tickets to tonight's game as well as the following seven Spikes home games in 2008 are available for purchase by calling 877-99-SPIKES, online at www.statecollegespikes.com or in person at the Box Office at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
