Spikes Unveil 2015 Schedule, Home Opener Set for June 19

STATE COLLEGE - The State College Spikes today announced the club's 2015 New York-Penn League schedule. The Spikes, the Class-A Short Season affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals and defending NYPL champions, will open the team's tenth season slate at home on Friday, June 19 against the rival Williamsport Crosscutters (Philadelphia Phillies).

State College will host 38 regular season contests at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park between Friday, June 19 and Sunday, September 6. Standard game times will remain 7:05 p.m. Monday thru Saturday and 6:05 p.m. Sunday. The lone exception will be Monday, July 13, when the Spikes will host the Tri-City Valley Cats (Houston Astros) at 12 p.m.

The Spikes' 38-game home schedule will include 26 contests against Pinckney Division opponents, including six against Williamsport and five against the league's newest franchise, the West Virginia Black Bears (Pittsburgh Pirates). West Virginia, which is in the process of relocating from Jamestown, New York to Morgantown, will face the Spikes for the first time during a three-game set at Medlar Field July 1-3.

State College will also host six divisional games against both the Auburn Doubledays (Washington Nationals) and Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Cleveland Indians), and three against the Batavia Muckdogs (Miami Marlins).

Four non-division opponents -- Connecticut Tigers (Detroit Tigers), Lowell Spinners (Boston Red Sox), Tri-City Valley Cats (Houston Astros) and Vermont Lake Monsters (Oakland Athletics) -- will each travel to State College for a three-game series. The July 11-13 home series against Tri-City will mark a rematch of the last two NYPL Championship Series. The Valley Cats took the 2013 title against the Spikes, while State College returned the favor this past September to capture the franchise's first championship.

Four NYPL opponents -- Aberdeen IronBirds (Baltimore Orioles), Brooklyn Cyclones (New York Mets), Hudson Valley Renegades (Tampa Bay Rays) and Staten Island Yankees (New York Yankees) -- will not appear at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park during the 2015 season.

The Spikes 2015 promotional schedule, featuring fireworks nights, fan giveaway items, celebrity appearances, ticket and food specials, theme events and more will be announced in the Spring.
