(STATE COLLEGE, PA) - The State College Spikes today announced the club's 2016 New York-Penn League schedule. The Spikes, Short-Season Class-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, will begin their home slate on Saturday, June 18 against the rival Williamsport Crosscutters (Philadelphia Phillies).

State College will play host to 38 regular season games at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park from June 18 through Sunday, September 4. Standard game times will remain 7:05 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 6:05 p.m. on Sunday. The lone exception will be Tuesday, August 2, when the Spikes welcome the West Virginia Black Bears (Pittsburgh Pirates) for a 12 p.m. start.

Fans will especially enjoy July, which features an unprecedented stretch of home games every Friday and Saturday night during the month.

The home schedule includes a total of 26 games against Pinckney Division opponents, with five games against Williamsport, the 2015 division champions. The Spikes will also host six contests against West Virginia from July 31 to August 11 in a matchup of the last two New York-Penn League champions. The Black Bears won their first title in their new home in 2015, while the Spikes garnered the NYPL championship in 2014.

Additional division games on the home slate include six contests each against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Cleveland Indians) and Auburn Doubledays (Washington Nationals). The Spikes will round out the home division schedule with three games against the Batavia Muckdogs (Miami Marlins).

The Spikes will also welcome four McNamara Division teams to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in 2016. The Staten Island Yankees (New York Yankees), Brooklyn Cyclones (New York Mets), Hudson Valley Renegades (Tampa Bay Rays) and Aberdeen IronBirds (Baltimore Orioles) will each appear for a three-game series during the year.

Four NYPL opponents - the Connecticut Tigers (Detroit Tigers), Lowell Spinners (Boston Red Sox), Tri-City ValleyCats (Houston Astros) and Vermont Lake Monsters (Oakland Athletics) - will not visit State College this upcoming season.

The Spikes' 2016 promotional schedule, featuring FIREWORKS nights, fan giveaway items, ticket and food specials, theme events and much more, will be announced in the spring.
