State College Spikes News Release

STATE COLLEGE- The opportunity for local singers to perform in front of thousands of fans this summer at a State College Spikes home game is just one audition away. The Spikes will be holding free auditions for local performers interested in singing the National Anthem prior to a 2013 home game on Saturday, April 13 at The State Theatre in Downtown State College. Registration will be held from 10 a.m. to Noon and performers will audition in the order of registration.

All tryouts will be a cappella and the anthem can be done solo, with a chorus, or as an instrumental. A panel of guest celebrity judges will rate the performances to help determine the roster of singers who will perform throughout the Spikes 2013 season at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Guest judges confirmed for the event will be Spikes mascot Ike the Spike; Sarah Swistak, Co-Host of Central PA Live on WTAJ TV; PJ from the B94.5 Morning Zoo Crew; Jeff Brown from 93.7 The Bus; Steve Williams from 95.3 FM 3WZ; "Majicman" Jerry Valeri from Majic 99; and DJ Ricky LaPean from Stress Busters Entertainment!

Those interested in auditioning for either opportunity, but cannot attend the April 13 event, should contact David Wells, Spikes Community Relations Manager, at (814) 272-1711 ext. 331 for details on how to submit demo materials. The Spikes will, however, give preference to individuals and groups who attend the April 13 event in person.
