WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wingnuts beat the St. Paul Saints 6-2 at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium on Friday night.

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, the Wingnuts scored six unanswered runs led by a 4 for 4 performance from shortstop Joseph Spiers.

Spiers opened the bottom of the first with a single to left-center and was followed by Ryan Patterson's long, two-run home run to left off of starter Jacob Schmidt to give the Wingnuts a 2-1 lead.

Steve Pearson drew a leadoff walk in the second and was doubled to third base by Jeff Christy. Two batters later, Spiers grounded a single through the Saints' drawn in infield to score both runners and make it 4-1.

Spiers singled to center with one out in the fourth. After a two-out walk to Jorge Cortes put runners on first and second, Michael Bell ripped a double down the left field line that broke the game open at 6-1.

Nick Singleton earned the win, throwing 6.1 innings and allowing one earned run on five hits. Singleton struck out six and walked one.

Josh Alley and Brandon Carter hit back-to-back doubles on Singleton's first two pitches of the game to give the Saints a 1-0 lead, but that was all Wingnuts' pitching allowed until an unearned run in the top of the eighth.

Schmidt took the loss, allowing all six runs on 10 hits. Dustin Pease worked a scoreless frame, while J.R. Boling closed out the final five outs without allowing an earned run. The Wingnuts signed first baseman Jorge Delgado before the game who went 1 for 4 in his Wichita debut. Spiers set a Wingnuts' single-game record with four stolen bases.
