Spears added to Southern League All-Star roster

Sevierville, Tennessee - The Southern League released an updated roster for the upcoming All-Star Game in Zebulon, NC on Monday July 14th, with the Tennessee Smokies' infielder Nate Spears earning a spot on the North Division All-Star squad. Spears will replace Huntsville Stars' infielder Chris Errecart, who will be unable to participate due to an injury.
After a slow start, Spears has certainly put together a season worthy of All-Star consideration. He currently is batting .304 on the year, one of the top fifteen batters in the league. Spears has become a mainstay for the Smokies infield at second base, driving in 26 runs for the season with one home run.
The Smokies begin a five-game homestand against the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx, the AA-affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, on Tuesday July 8th at Smokies Park.
