Sox Win 10 Inning Thriller

August 13, 2007 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Reno Silver Sox News Release

It took most of the season to do it, but the Reno Silver Sox have now won an extra inning game.

Led by RF Juan Senreiso's cluch hitting in the late innings, the Silver Sox took the final game of a three game set at Blair Field to win the series 2-1.

Silver Sox starting pitcher Adam Harendza pitched six shutout innings in the game, but would get a no decision.

The Silver Sox led 4-0 going into the eight inning, when Jason Martinez walked the bases loaded. Then, LF Dan Trumble hit a grand slam off of Eric Thomas to tie the game at four.

At that point, the momentum seemed to have shifted, as it didn?t take long for The Armada to take the lead 5-4 later that inning.

In the ninth, CF Victor Hall led off getting hit by a pitch. Then, 2B Maurice Cole- who had a four hit game - reached on an error. The next batter was Senreiso, and he hit a ground ball into center field to tie the game at five.

The game went into extra innings, and Dane De La Rosa -who had blown the save- remained on the mound. And again, Senreiso came up with the big hit. He knocked in C Josh Mcleod and the Sox took a 6-5 lead to the bottom of the tenth.

Shawn Balteff would come in to finish the game off, but not before he made things interesting. Long Beach loaded the bases and sent CF John Kaplan to the plate with two outs. Balteff got him to ground out, and the Sox were victorious.

St. George will be in Reno for a two game mini series beginning Monday .
