Silver Sox Busy at Deadline
August 13, 2007 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Reno Silver Sox News Release
Being on the road can't stop Silver Sox Manager Les Lancaster from working the phones to help improve the Silver Sox.
During the latest road trip, which saw the Silver Sox go 3-4 against the Golden Baseball League's two best teams, the Silver Sox made a flurry of moves before Sunday's trading deadline.
During the trip the Silver Sox picked up catcher Josh McLeod who has had an impact already. McLeod has already driven in two runs over five games and scored a crucial run in last night's thriller, which saw the Silver Sox beat the Long Beach Armada 6-5 in 10 innings.
Also joining the team were pitchers Joe Welentin and Dario Ferrand. Welentin joined the Silver Sox after playing for the Joliet Jackhammers earlier this season. Ferrand was traded to the Silver Sox from the Amarillo Dillas of the United League for a player to be named later. Ferrand had a 1-2 record with a 6.31 ERA over 25.2 innings pitched.
The Silver Sox also traded C Jose Rodriguez to the Yuma Scorpions for a player to be named later and released pitcher Jason Martinez to make room on the roster for Ferrand.
