Sox Sweep Armada Again

The Silver Sox (3-2) put ten runs up on the board against the Armada (3-4) as the Sox swept the Armada again in the 10-6 victory last night at Peccole Park in Reno.

Starting pitcher Kevin Frederick threw 4.2 innings giving up four runs off eight hits, striking out five, and walking two. Though it wasn?t one of Frederick?s best nights he still held the team together.

It was reliever Billy Simon (1-0), however, who earned the win in his 2.1 innings. Simon struck out four and allowed two hits. Finishing out the night for the Silver Sox was righty Derrick Landavazo. Landavazo allowed two runs off three hits and struck out two.

The Silver Sox offense never seems to let its fans down as they drove in ten runs off ten hits and only left six runners on base. After RF Juan Senreiso got to third on a throwing error, 1B Steve Alexander nailed one, for an off the wall double that brought Senreiso in. Alexander was two for three with his team leading twelfth homerun, three RBIs and a run.

Senreiso and DH John Hattig each knocked in a run in the third, and C D.J. Dixon broke out of his hitting slump when he hit a two run double to give the Silver Sox a 5-4 lead after three. Dixon was two for four, with two doubles, and 3 RBIs. Senreiso was one for three with one RBI and three runs.

LF Ross McCoy took it up a notch as he hit two back to back homeruns. His first was a solo shot in the fifth and his second a two run bomb in the sixth. McCoy was two for four with three RBIs and three runs.

The Silver Sox never looked back after the third inning, as good pitching and an explosive offense kept the Armada at bay, and allowed for the three game series sweep. The Sox head to Chico this weekend before an eight game home stand, which begins Monday, July 28.
