
Armada swept in Reno

Long Beach Armada News Release
The Crew dropped the first two games in Reno this week, and in the last game of this short three-game road trip. Kevin Fredrick was on the mound for the Silver Sox and he was opposed by Long Beach starter and Millikan alum, Nick Bierbrodt. Long Beach could not figure out Reno and they lost the third game of a three game series, 10-6.
The Armada couldn't get anything over in the first inning after scoring three quick runs last night. Cleatus Davidson was struck out in the second inning and argued heavily, getting tossed out of the game.
Steve Alexander doubled in the opening run of the game for Reno in the bottom of the second. Long Beach came storming back in the third inning. Loading the bases for 3B/hitting coach Ryan Lehr. Lehr was hit by a pitch and the game was tied at one. The Crew picked up another run on a Reno error and took a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the second.
Reno countered with four runs in their half of the inning but with two runners on and two outs in the top of the third Chris Klemm but he struck out and the Armada still trailed 5-2.
Lehr crushed a ball off the top of the left field wall for a double to lead off the fifth inning. C David Ramirez was hit by a pitch, and then Lehr scored off a bobbled catch of a Julian Williams fly ball to right. Fredrick was replaced by 6'6? right-hander Billy Simon in the top of the fifth, their lead cut to 5-4.
Ross McCoy had a solo HR for Reno in the bottom of the sixth to extend the lead, 6-4. Bierbrodt gave up home runs to Ross McCoy in back-to-back innings to help extend the Reno lead 9-4 going into the seventh.
Long Beach couldn't get anything going in their part of the seventh and Manager Steve Yeager sent in Garrett Murdy to the hill in the bottom of the seventh. Steve Alexander blew a Murdy pitch over the left field wall to extend the Reno lead to 10-4.
Derrick Landovazo took the ball for Reno in the eighth. Hutchins tripled off Landovazo, scoring Klemm from first. Hutchins came around off a Lehr single and the score was 10-6 Reno heading into the ninth.
Long Beach could get nothing going in the ninth and the Armada was swept up in the Biggest Little City. The Armada return home tomorrow night to face the Calgary Vipers for a weekend series. Tickets are available at www.longbeacharmada.com or at the box office.
