Everett AquaSox News Release

EVERETT, Wash. -- The Everett AquaSox (12-16) have now won consecutive home games for the first time this season by scoring in bunches early again on the Spokane Indians (14-14), which was more than enough for starter Jose Campos as the Sox notched their ninth win out of fourteen games in July by a score of 8-2.

Campos (2-2, 3.16 ERA) allowed only two hits while striking eight through six innings of work to earn his second straight home win. The right-hander has only allowed one earned run in three starts totaling eighteen innings at home this season, good for a 0.50 ERA, while amassing 19 of his 29 strikeouts in those starts.

The Frogs got all the offense they would need in the first inning when newest AquaSox Ramon Morla laced a two-out triple past Spokane left-fielder Hirotoshi Onaka that plated home two runs. Left-fielder Nathan Melendres stepped to the plate next and pushed a bunt up the first base line to score Morla to make it 3-0 and eleven runs in the first inning in the last two games.

The Sox tacked on four more runs to put the game out of reach on a solo home run by center-fielder Jarrett Burgess in the fourth inning and a three-run shot by second baseman Jorge Agudelo in the seventh. Burgess and Agudelo both have three home runs on the season and after 26 games without multiple home runs in a game, the Sox have now perform the feat in two straight games.

The win improves the Sox home recored to 4-8 and 7-0 when they score seven runs or more. Everett will try to take their first home series of the season as they send out left-hander Jordan Shipers (0-4, 4.50 ERA) against Spokane southpaw Will Lamb (0-0, 3.60 ERA) at 7:05 p.m.
