EVERETT - Everett lost the first game of a double-header 6-3 to Boise Saturday Night at Everett Memorial Stadium. The Hawks jumped on the Frogs early scoring three runs in the first inning taking advantage of a couple of walks issued by Sox starter Edward Paredes.

Boise added two more runs in the 3rd inning on a textbook hit and run by 1st round draft pick Josh Donaldson as well as a double out of the hot-hitting DH Mario Mercedes. Mercedes is batting .342 in 13 games for Boise.

The Frogs began chipping away in the bottom of the 3rd inning when first basemen Manelik Pimentel came through with a single through the left side of the infield putting two runners on and bringing up big lefty Joe Dunigan. Dunigan promptly roped a ball down the third base line off of Boise starter Arik Hempy, and took third base on the throw home. His hit knocked in two AquaSox runs and sent Hempy to the showers. With a 2-2 count, Roberto Mena then ripped a shot to right-center field off the new pitcher, Zachary Ashwood, scoring Dunigan from third and cutting the Boise lead to 5-3.

Sox starter Edward Paredes was third on the Northwest League leaders list coming into Saturday night with a 1.85 ERA. However, he had difficulty finding the zone Saturday night walking 4. Paredes allowed 6 hits, 6 runs, and got 3 strikeouts in 3 and 2/3 innings.

Despite scattering hits throughout the game, Everett could never quite mount the rally needed to overcome Boise. Game two of this Saturday night double-header is currently in progress.
