Great Falls Voyagers News Release
Great Falls, MT - Tonight the Great Falls White Sox were defeated by the Casper Rockies 8-1 at Centene Stadium. James Casey (0-1) took the loss in relief for the Sox as he allowed the go ahead run to score in the sixth inning. The win went to Jay Metzger (1-1) as he worked five innings, allowing one run on one hit. The save went to Sean Ruthven (1) as he worked three shutout innings from the bullpen.
Casper scored first in the ball game when Radames Nazario singled home Dexter Fowler in the third inning. Great Falls then tied up the game in the fourth inning on a Manny Rodriguez double that scored Brandon Allen from first base.
Both starting pitchers did an outstanding job for both teams. Metzger worked six allowing one run on one hit while Great Falls starter Noe Rodriguez worked five innings allowing only 1 run on two hits.
However, Casey relieved Rodriguez in the sixth and allowed a run to score. It came on a sacrifice fly by Trevor Allen after Casey walked the lead-off batter in the inning.
The Rockies then poured it on in the eighth and ninth innings when they scored six times to pick up an 8-1 win over the Sox.
In the game, Matt Tribble raised his hit streak to 12 games on a ninth inning single.
Tomorrow night the Sox will play the second of four against the Casper Rockies. The starters for the game are: Eric Everly (LHP) for Great Falls and Anuary Rodriguez (RHP) for Casper. Game time is at 7:00pm and can be heard on 560AM-KMON starting at 6:45.
News and Notes: The Grand Opening of the new "Great Falls Hall of Fame" will be on July 22nd, when the Sox host the Idaho Falls Chukars. The opening is set for 5pm.
