
South Beats North 6-3 in SAL All-Star Game

SALISBURY, MD - The Southern Division All-Stars scored five runs in the third inning in topping the Northern Division All-Stars 6-3 on Tuesday night at Perdue Stadium, home of the Delmarva Shorebirds.
Adam Duvall of Augusta and Cory Vaughn of Savannah each homered as part of the five-run third inning against Hickory's Roman Mendez.
The BlueClaws had five representatives in the game, the third most in franchise history.
BlueClaws 1B Jim Murphy went 1-2 with a walk and a sacrifice fly playing the entire game for the Northern Division. Murphy is tied for the league lead in home runs and RBIs with 17 and 53, tied with Duvall in both categories.
Anthony Hewitt was the starting DH for the North and went 1-2.
Three BlueClaws pitched including starter David Buchanan, who leads the league in wins with eight. Buchanan gave up one hit and fanned two in the first inning.
RHP Lisalberto Bonilla gave up a fourth inning run in 1.1 innings pitched.
RHP Garett Claypool was the final BlueClaw to enter the game and threw a 1-2-3 sixth inning with two strikeouts.
The top three picks in the 2010 draft were all Northern Division All-Stars. Top overall pick Bryce Harper of Hagerstown went 0-2 with an RBI. Second overall pick Jameson Taillon of West Virginia did not pitch in the game. Third overall pick Manny Machado of Delmarva was 2-4.
ClawsNotes: Murphy and Hewitt participated in the BB&T Home Run Derby, which was won by Chris Wallace of Lexington...Lakewood opens the second half at home on Thursday night against Delmarva, the All-Star Game hosts...LHP Jesse Biddle will throw the second-half opener for the BlueClaws.
