Charleston RiverDogs News Release
SALISBURY, Md. - Three Charleston RiverDogs' players suited up for the Southern Division squad in the 52nd annual South Atlantic League All-Star Game at the Delmarva Shorebirds' Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Tuesday night.
Right-handed pitcher Mikey O'Brien, outfielder Ramon Flores, and catcher/designated hitter J.R. Murphy all took part in the festivities as the South topped the North, 6-3.
O'Brien, a New York Penn League (NYPL) Mid-Season All-Star in 2010, yielded a run on one hit and a walk while working the seventh inning out of the bullpen.
Murphy pinch-hit for Rome's Jakob Dalfonso in the top of the seventh, and went 0-2 with a pair of groundouts. Flores also entered in the frame, replacing Savannah's Cory Vaughn in center field and grounding out in his only at-bat.
Charleston center fielder Slade Heathcott and first baseman/designated hitter Kyle Roller were also named to the SAL South team, but did not play as they were finishing stints on the 7-Day DL.
The RiverDogs begin the second half with a four-game series against the Kannapolis Intimidators on Thursday, June 23, at 7:05 p.m.
