South Bay Lakers News Release

EL SEGUNDO - The South Bay Lakers played in their eighteenth NBA G League regular season game against the Sioux Falls Skyforce as they won 113-108 on Thursday night. Damion Baugh led the Lakers (11-7), in scoring with a career-high 28 points. Caleb Daniels paced the Skyforce (15-6), scoring 22 points.

South Bay got off to a slow start in the first frame, digging themselves an early double-digit deficit. A flurry of threes off the bench from Damion Baugh and Vincent Valerio-Bodon sprung South Bay back into the game, enabling the Lakers to go into the second frame tied, 31-31.

South Bay was able to continue that momentum into the second quarter and build a double-digit lead of their own halfway through the period. The Skyforce fought their way back into the game however, cutting the Laker lead to just three at the break. Bryce Hamilton led the Lakers at the half with 12 points.

The third frame was tight, with both teams trading buckets and failing to build a substantial cushion. Alex Fudge provided some key energy off the bench, helping South Bay take a two-point lead into the final frame, 84-82.

The Lakers were able to build a lead in the early part of the quarter behind more stellar shooting from Baugh, who had 10 in the period. Though the Skyforce pushed South Bay to the very end, the Lakers were able to close the game out, 113-108.

Baugh put together a final line of a career-high 28 points, three rebounds, seven assists and three steals in 32 minutes. Hamilton added 22 points, three rebounds and six assists while Maxwell Lewis put up 14 and six rebounds. For the Skyforce, Caleb Daniels put up 22 points and seven assists, while Olin Carter III scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

South Bay will face off in a rematch against the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 7:00pm from the UCLA Health Training Center. ###

The NBA G League's South Bay Lakers are the first franchise in G League history to be owned by an NBA team (Los Angeles Lakers).
