Nashville Sounds News Release
The Nashville Sounds have reached an agreement to broadcast the majority of their 2005 schedule on WAMB, which simulcasts on 98.7 FM & 1160 AM.
WAMB will host all of the Sounds' 117 evening game broadcasts in 2005. The entire 2005 slate will be available to fans via internet webcast at www.nashvillesounds.com. The partnership with WAMB will also include the broadcast of the annual Triple-A All Star Game (July 13 in Sacramento).
"We're excited about the new relationship we've established with WAMB," said Sounds general manager Glenn Yaeger. "We look forward to an exciting season of Sounds broadcasts."
The new agreement rekindles a relationship that initially began in the mid-1990s. WAMB served as the home of Sounds broadcasts for three seasons from 1995-97 while the club was the top affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. The Sounds enter their first season as the Milwaukee Brewers' Class AAA affiliate in 2005.
Broadcasting at 50,000 watts, WAMB provides service to more than 1,500,000 people in Tennessee and Kentucky with a signal encompassing more than 12,000 square miles.
"Put me in coach, I'm ready to play," said WAMB general manager Harry Stephenson. "We are thrilled to have the Sounds back home on WAMB."
Chuck Valenches returns for his eighth season as the "Voice of the Sounds." Broadcasts will begin approximately 15 minutes prior to game time.
The Sounds open the 2005 season on Thursday, April 7 at Greer Stadium when new skipper Frank Kremblas leads the club into action against the New Orleans Zephyrs. Ticket packages are currently on sale. Call (615) 242-4371 or visit the Sounds' website to order or for more information.
