Nashville Sounds News Release

The Nashville Sounds return to Music City on Tuesday after wrapping up an intra-division road trip to Iowa and Omaha. The Sounds' upcoming homestand will feature two four-game series, first with the Tucson Sidewinders (AAA-Sidewinders) then wrapping up with the Las Vegas 51s (AAA-Dodgers). The series against both clubs will be the teams' lone meetings this season.

Greer Stadium will host plenty of fun promotions throughout the eight-day stretch, including two Shoney's fireworks shows, a Purity Faith Night, and a Louisville Slugger baseball bat giveaway.

Tuesday's 7:00 p.m. homestand opener will feature Goo-Goo Tuesdays 2-for-1. Sounds fans can turn in the UPC panel from any flavor Goo-Goo 6 pack at the Greer Stadium box office and receive one free ticket when purchasing one ticket of equal or greater value. Tuesday is also Volunteer Night. Any volunteer organization may request as many complimentary tickets as they can utilize for this game.

Reading Club Day will take place on Wednesday at 12:00 noon. Reading Club participants that have obtained their reading goals have the opportunity to see a Sounds baseball game and march in a parade on the field during pre-game warmups.

Thursday's 7:00 p.m. game will feature the overtly popular Thirsty Thursday. Sounds fans can enjoy $1 draft beverages until the end of the 5th inning at all concourse and portable stand locations.

The final game between the Sounds and Sidewinders takes place on Friday at 7:00 p.m. A Shoney's fireworks spectacular will follow the game, which is also a Purity Faith Night. The Swift and Liberty Baptist Singers take the concourse concert stage for a pre-game concert beginning at 5:30.

The Swift is a pop-rock foursome that brought "original" and "piano-driven" back to Christian music. "Our focus has always been in ministry," lead singer Britt Edwards said. "Because that's how this whole thing started. We never want to lose sight of the Gospel or that calling to be the salt and light in the Church and outside of it." The Swift is now in their third year with Flicker Records.

The Liberty Baptist Singers, from Henager, Alabama, have continued the traditional Sacred Harp genre of Christian music for over one hundred and ten years and were recently featured on the Cold Mountain motion picture soundtrack. The first recordings of the Sacred Harp genre date back to a time book first published in 1844.

Sounds baseball action continues into the weekend as the Las Vegas 51s come to Nashville. Saturday's 6:00 p.m. series opener features a Shoney's fireworks show following game. The first 2,000 fans through the turnstiles will receive a Louisville Slugger bat. The game is also includes Little League Night; several area youth baseball teams in attendance from 19 different leagues in Tennessee and Kentucky will be recognized in a pre-game parade and throughout the game.

A brand-new promotion included in Saturday's festivities is Scout Night at Fort Negley. Prior to the Sounds game beginning at 2 p.m., Scouts will have the opportunity to enjoy a special afternoon on the historic Civil War fort location, where they will receive a historical tour of the battleground and interact with several animals (hawks, eagles, owls, snakes, etc.) provided by Tennessee State Park rangers. A pre-game picnic will follow at Greer before the Scouts enjoy a fun-filled night of baseball at the ballpark.

Sunday's 2:00 p.m. game will feature Harris Teeter Family Day. Fans can buy one ticket and get one ticket free by showing their Harris Teeter VIC Card at the box office. Lipscomb University will give away a free three-hour graduate education course. Other prizes include gift certificates to bed & breakfasts, movie tickets, and gift certificates to restaurants.
