Nashville Sounds News Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds have announced their 2010 promotional calendar, which includes a visit from the Famous Chicken, two Webkinz giveaways, a Prince Fielder bobblehead giveaway, fireworks shows, a brand-new Thursday night promotion, and more.
The popular Famous Chicken will make his first appearance at Greer Stadium in six years when he entertains fans on Thursday, July 1 during the Sounds' 7:05 p.m. game against New Orleans.
An exciting new item on the promotional slate for 2010 at Greer Stadium is two Lil' Webkinz giveaways on June 4 (Ozzie) and August 13 (golden retriever). Popular with 7- to 12-year-olds, Webkinz is a sort of amalgamation of tween favorites: a cute plush toy, a virtual pet, a social networking website and a place to play online games. Each stuffed animal comes equipped with a special ID that lets kids log on to a website and build their own virtual reality for an online version of the pet, complete with its own room.
The Sounds will honor former first baseman Prince Fielder with a bobblehead giveaway on Thursday, July 15. The current Milwaukee Brewers slugger was an important member of Nashville's PCL championship club in 2005, when he led the Sounds with 28 home runs and 86 RBIs in just 103 games.
Additional giveaway items on the slate include: magnet schedules sponsored by ICEE (opening weekend), baseball cards (June 3), kids T-shirts (May 14), Sounds hats sponsored by Vanderbilt Sports Medicine (July 16), and Sounds T-shirts sponsored by Vanderbilt Sports Medicine (August 27).
Daily promotions also fill the 2010 calendar. Dollar Dog Nights ($1 hot dogs) on Mondays and KRAFT Singles Tuesday Night Tickets on Tuesdays, and Purity Sundae Sundays are back for the 2010 season.
On Tuesdays, fans can bring in a KRAFT Singles package wrapper/proof of purchase to the ticket window for a Buy One Get One Free from KRAFT Singles. All Sunday home games will be Purity Sundae Sundays, when fans can purchase $1 ice cream sundaes. In addition, the Sounds will host Autograph Days prior to one Sunday home game per month.
A new daily promotion in 2010 is Taco Bell Throwback Thursdays, which will feature Sounds players wearing retro 1980s-style uniforms for every Thursday home game this season. Fans will also have the opportunity to enjoy concession stands filled with discounted pricing, such as $2 beer, $2 soft drinks, $2 hot dogs, and $2 popcorn.
The Sounds' popular postgame fireworks extravaganzas return on 16 dates this summer, including Opening Night (April 16), all Saturday home dates, and four additional Friday dates.
Most Friday home game dates will feature either a fireworks show or a giveaway item.
Single-game tickets for 2010 Sounds game go on sale tomorrow via the team's online purchase system at www.nashvillesounds.com and through the Greer Stadium box office beginning tomorrow (Tuesday, March 16).
