PORTLAND, Ore. - An annual Independence Day extravaganza, exciting nightly and monthly themes, and a host of unique giveaways and special holiday promotions highlight a fun-filled 2010 Portland Beavers promotional schedule, the team announced today.
The Beavers play host to their annual Independence Day celebration presented by PGE, when they face the Las Vegas 51s on Sunday, July 4, at 7:05 p.m. After the final out is recorded, fans can turn their attention skyward and enjoy the annual Fourth of July fireworks display.
On Saturday, May 22, Beavers fans get an opportunity to add to their bobblehead collections when the team honors local pioneers on Lewis and Clark Bobblehead Night presented by Cricket Wireless. As part of the team's Fred Meyer Super Giveaway Saturday promotion, the first 2,000 fans at the game will receive this one-of-a-kind collectible.
Also headlining the slate of special events is the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of an '80s motion picture classic. "The Goonies," filmed in nearby Astoria, Ore., will be honored on Friday, June 11, during Goonies Never Say Die Night. After a night filled with trivia and Goonies-related contests, fans will be invited down to the field to watch the movie on the stadium's video board.
The jam-packed promotional calendar kicks off with a weekend-long Magnet Schedule Giveaway presented by PGE for the season-opening series with the Sacramento River Cats, April 8-11. The Thursday night opener is also the first of 10 Miller Lite Thursdays throughout the season.
Once again in 2010, the Beavers offer area students the ultimate field trip. US Bank Art & Science of Baseball Days presented by Intel are back in full force for the upcoming season. OMSI scientists will be on-hand for all four of these special 11:05 a.m. games, which occur Tuesday, April 27; Monday, May 10; Wednesday, May 26; and Friday, June 4.

In addition to the popular Zenner's $1 Menu Fridays and Miller Lite Thursdays, the Beavers will host Fred Meyer $4 Tuesdays throughout the season with select tickets available for $4 when purchased at Fred Meyer locations or the PGE Park box office on Tuesday game days. Win-Win Wednesdays are back this season, as the Beavers celebrate each victory on a Wednesday by rewarding fans in attendance with a free ticket to an upcoming home game. Each Saturday is a Fred Meyer Super Giveaway Saturday, as fans will take home Cricket Wireless bobbleheads (May 22), RE/MAX baseball gloves (June 12), Etch A Sketches presented by Intel (June 19), and Beavers baseball caps (Aug. 14), among other premium items. Additionally, Make-a-Difference Mondays join the lineup as the Beavers will team with fans to make a positive impact in the community. Part of each Monday's ticket proceeds will be donated to worthy families. Fans will be asked to submit recommendations on deserving families through the team website. At the end of each month, a family will be selected and given a check by the team.
Sunday games already provide great opportunities for kids at PGE Park, and this year they promise to be just as fun. Kids Sundays are loaded with exclusive activities for young Beavers fans, including player autograph sessions, face painters, balloon artists, pre-game catch on the field and post-game run the bases. And don't forget, kids eat free prior to first pitch during each Sunday contest.
