Sounders Travel to Carolina to Take on the Railhawks

May 27, 2008 - USL First Division (USL-1)
Seattle Sounders News Release

The Seattle Sounders (3-1-3) travel to North Carolina, tomorrow at 4:30 pm, to play the Carolina Railhawks at WakeMed Soccer Park.

The game is the first of a three game road trip in the southeast that moves to Puerto Rico on Friday and Miami on Sunday.

Seattle is coming off consecutive victories against Atlanta and Vancouver that saw them end the finishing woes that plagued them early in the year. In their last two victories, the Sounders have scored six goals after scoring just four in their first five games.

Josh Gardner and Sebastien Le Toux scored in the first seven minutes of the 2-0 victory in Vancouver, last Friday. With seven games played, the team has 12 points placing them five points back of league leaders, Charleston Battery.

Carolina ends a four game home-stand against Seattle; the Railhawks have drawn every game of the stretch thus far. In their second year in the league, Carolina has ten points and are in sixth place.

Tomorrow's game is a rematch of the first round of the 2007 playoffs. Seattle won last year's playoff battle 3-0 on aggregate.

"I think having knocked them [Carolina] from the playoffs last year will only give Scott [Carolina head coach Scott Schweitzer] more ammo to fire his team up," said Coach Schmetzer.

Next up for the Sounders is the Puerto Rico Islanders on Friday at 5:00 pm. The match can be seen live on USLlive.com. The Sounders next home game is June 7th against the Minnesota Thunder.
