TUKWILA, Wash. - Sounders FC began its run for a fourth straight Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup with a third-round win over the Atlanta Silverbacks, 5-1 on Wednesday evening at Starfire Sports Stadium. Seattle will host Cal FC in a fourth-round match at Starfire on Tuesday, June 5. Ticket information will be announced later.

Seattle scored four second-half goals and set a club record for goals in an Open Cup. Sammy Ochoa scored twice, Osvaldo Alonso scored and assisted, while Andy Rose and Alex Caskey each added a goal.

Rose got the Rave Green on the board in the 44th minute. Jeff Parke chested a pass down to the feet of the UCLA rookie, who then rocketed the ball into the lower left corner of the net.

The goal marked Rose's first goal as a member of Sounders FC, and his second in U.S. Open Cup play as he converted a penalty kick for Ventura County Fusion in the first round of the 2011 Open Cup. The assist gave Parke his first point of 2012.

Seattle immediately got on the board as the second half started when Cordell Cato played a ball to Alonso making a run up the right side, and the Cuban finished hard and low inside the far post for his first goal of 2012.

The Silverbacks cut it to 2-1 in the 53rd minute on a when Reinaldo Navia put a ball past Bryan Meredith on a cross from Shane Moroney. A minute later, Caskey headed down an errant Atlanta pass, then dribbled up the left side and finished inside the far post.

In the 62nd minute, Ochoa got behind the defense on a ball from Alonso and put it past Atlanta keeper Joe Nasco. Four minutes later in the 66th, Ochoa recovered a blocked David Estrada shot and bent it around Nasco and inside the far post. It was Ochoa's first multi-goal game and his first scores of 2012.

Five goals is the most Sounders FC has ever scored in an Open Cup game, breaking their previous mark of four that was set against RSL in a play-in match in the 2009 tournament. They scored all five goals in 22 minute span.

Cato made his first start for Sounders FC and picked up an assist on Alonso's goal. He also created multiple chances in the first half, including a 19th minute cross through defender's legs that found Eddie Johnson, whose shot missed high. In the 57th minute, he made a run up the right side and blasted a shot that pinged off the far post.
