SEATTLE, WASH. - After falling to Liga MX side Club León 3-2 Wednesday in the 2021 Leagues Cup Final, Sounders FC (13-5-6, 45 points) travels to face Sporting Kansas City (13-5-7, 46 points) Sunday evening Children's Mercy Park (4:00 p.m. PT / FS1, 1090 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM). Sounders FC and Sporting Kansas City first faced off in MLS play on April 11, 2009, with Seattle suffering its first-ever MLS regular-season loss, a 1-0 result at Lumen Field. The Rave Green have fought to a 9-8-4 record all-time in MLS regular-season play against SKC, starting the regular-season series strong by going 7-1-2 in the first 10 meetings.
The two sides have met one other time this season on July 25 at Lumen Field, a 3-1 win for Sporting Kansas City.
Following Sunday's match, Sounders FC prepares to hit the road again for a midweek match against San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday, September 29 (7:30 p.m. PT / FOX 13+, Prime Video, 1090 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
