Sounders FC Signs Free Agent Attacker Danny Musovski

SEATTLE, WASH. - Sounders FC today announced that it has signed free agent Danny Musovski to a contract through the 2025 season with a team option for 2026. Musovski joins the Rave Green following a 2023 campaign with Real Salt Lake, where he scored nine goals across all competitions. The 28-year-old attacker has tallied 45 career goals over six professional seasons in MLS and USL Championship.

"We are excited to sign a proven talent like Danny to our squad," said Sounders FC General Manager & Chief Soccer Officer Craig Waibel. "We've taken steps to bolster our attack this offseason, and Danny gives us another goal-scoring threat add to our arsenal."

Originally drafted 30th overall by San Jose in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, Musovski is coming off a 2023 campaign for RSL that saw him tally nine goals and five assists across all competitions, including two goals and an assist in a semifinal run in the 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Prior to his time with RSL, Musovski spent three seasons with LAFC from 2020-2022, recording 13 goals and six assists in 61 appearances in all competitions. Musovski was loaned to Las Vegas Lights FC in 2021, scoring five goals and recording three assists in 12 appearances with the USL Championship side. The Henderson, Nevada native scored 18 goals in 44 appearances over two stints with Reno 1868 FC in 2018 and 2019, including a career-high 11 strikes in 2019.

"Adding a player with a good attacking skillset like Danny is always a good thing for the club," said Sounders FC Head Coach Brian Schmetzer. "I can't wait to get him into our preseason training and see how we can use his talents to benefit our squad."

A two-time Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year at UNLV, Musovski tallied 47 career collegiate goals, including a 15-goal, six-assist senior season in 2017. He led the Rebels to the WAC Tournament title in both 2014 and 2016, earning tournament MVP honors both seasons. He was also named to the All-WAC First Team every year from 2015-2017.

Sounders FC finished the 2023 regular season second in the Western Conference with 53 points (14-9-11), advancing to the Western Conference Semifinals before falling 1-0 to LAFC. The club is currently in the middle of preseason preparations for the 2024 season, which kicks off against LAFC on Saturday, February 24 at BMO Stadium (1:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, FOX, iHeartMedia Seattle, El Rey 1360 AM).
