SEATTLE, WASH. - Sounders FC's 2017 preseason presented by adidas continues this weekend from Charleston, South Carolina, as the club prepares for the first of three Carolina Challenge Cup matches tonight against host side Charleston Battery at MUSC Health Stadium (4:00 p.m. PT / Live-Streamed on SoundersFC.com). While in Charleston, the club is set to also play Atlanta United FC (February 22) and Columbus Crew SC (February 25), with the MLS season-opener just weeks away on March 4 at the Houston Dynamo.
The current roster of 23 contracted players on the First Team is composed of three goalkeepers, seven defenders, eight midfielders and five forwards. The club currently has three Designated Players, six International Players and five Homegrown Players. One of the 23 contracted players, forward Victor Mansaray, is currently on loan with USL side FC Cincinnati.
In addition to those currently signed to First Team contracts, Brian Schmetzer's preseason roster from Charleston also includes unsigned SuperDraft picks, Sounders FC Academy players, as well as trialists and guest players.
