Seattle Holds Four Picks in 2014 SuperDraft
The transition from offseason to preseason begins Thursday when the MLS SuperDraft is held in Philadelphia. Just over a week later, on Saturday, January 25, Sounders FC will begin preparations for the 2014 campaign with the first day of preseason training at Starfire Sports in Tukwila, Wash.
The 2014 MLS SuperDraft will include four rounds and 77 overall selections. The first two rounds will take place in Philadelphia on Thursday, with the final two rounds taking place on Tuesday, January 21 via a conference call.
Sounders FC holds the 8th, 21st, 55th and 77th overall picks in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft. D.C. United holds the top pick as clubs were ranked in reverse order of regular season finish.
Fans may watch the 2014 MLS SuperDraft live on ESPN News, beginning at 9 a.m. PT on January 16.
Sounders FC representatives at the SuperDraft will be Owner and General Manager Adrian Hanauer, Head Coach Sigi Schmid, Sporting Director Chris Henderson, Assistant Coach Brian Schmetzer and Assistant Coach/Scout Kurt Schmid.

2014 MLS SuperDraft Preview
The first nine selections of the SuperDraft were originally held by clubs that did not qualify for the 2013 MLS Cup Playoffs, in reverse order of regular season finish. The remaining 10 positions originally belonged to clubs that were eliminated in the same round of the 2013 MLS Cup Playoffs, in reverse order of regular season finish.
Sounders FC holds the 8th, 21st, 55th and 77th picks in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft. Seattle traded all four of its natural picks and, to replace those picks, Sounders FC acquired four selections via trades over the past 12 months. Seattle was awarded the final overall selection (77th) as part of the Cordell Cato trade with San Jose in 2013. The original trade was for a fourth round Supplemental Draft pick.

Sounders FC Draft History
Sounders FC will participate in its sixth MLS SuperDraft on Thursday. Seattle has made 28 selections in the MLS SuperDraft and Supplemental Draft since 2009, beginning with the club's first-ever draft pick Steve Zakuani. Seattle's roster currently includes a total of seven players that the club acquired via the SuperDraft or Supplemental Draft: Will Bates, Alex Caskey, David Estrada, Josh Ford, Dylan Remick, Andy Rose and Eriq Zavaleta.

The Ins & Outs: Offseason Transactions
Sounders FC has kept busy over the offseason, signing eight new players over the past five weeks. The movement began with two defensive additions in goalkeeper Stefan Frei and center back Chad Marshall. The team also added two forwards in Kenny Cooper, Chad Barrett and Tristan Bowen, and signed two Homegrown Players in midfielder Aaron Kovar and forward Sean Okoli. On the day before the SuperDraft, Sounders FC acquired defender Jalil Anibaba from the Chicago Fire.

Yedlin Nominated for Male Sports Star of the Year
DeAndre Yedlin is one of six finalists selected by the Seattle Sports Commission for Male Sports Star of the Year. Yedlin is nominated along with University of Washington running back Bishop Sankey, Mariners pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma, Boston Red Sox pitcher Jon Lester, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and the UW Men's Soccer team. Fans can vote for their favorite nominee by visiting SeattleSports.org. Winners will be announced during the show on January 22 at Benaroya Hall.
