Sounders FC Hosts Watch Party for Team's FIFA Club World Cup 2022 Opening Match
January 30, 2023 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Seattle Sounders FC News Release
SEATTLE, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC is calling all fans to come cheer on the Rave Green this Saturday, February 4, as the team plays its opening match in the FIFA Club World Cup. With the tournament taking place in Morocco, Sounders FC is hosting a local watch party at the Seattle Center Armory where fans can gather to support Sounders FC together.
While admission for Saturday's Club World Cup watch party is free, fans are encouraged to RSVP in advance here. Entry is provided on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 8:00 a.m. PT and continuing until The Armory reaches capacity.
Sounders FC's match on Saturday marks a new historical achievement for the club and Major League Soccer, as Seattle becomes the first MLS club to ever represent the league at the Club World Cup. The Rave Green are set to face the winner of Auckland City (New Zealand) vs. Al Ahly SC (Egypt), and the stakes are high: with a victory, Sounders FC would advance to play Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid on February 8. Should the Rave Green advance, watch parties will also be held for any of the team's subsequent Club World Cup matches.
Those attending Saturday's watch party should plan to arrive early given the high demand and also to enjoy beloved Sounders FC matchday traditions including a performance by SoundWave, Boom Boom Clap and the announcement of starting lineups. In addition, a variety of pre-match entertainment is available, including music, face painters, photobooths and interactive games in a family-friendly environment.
Food and drink is available for purchase on-site, along with a beer garden for fans over the age of 21.
While garage and street parking are available throughout the Seattle Center area, Sounders FC encourages those attending the watch parties to take public transit, including the Seattle Center Monorail.
