Sounders FC Hosts Kitsap Pumas to Begin Open Cup Run

RENTON, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC begins its run in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup tournament by hosting the Kitsap Pumas on Tuesday night at Starfire Sports Stadium in Tukwila. The third-round match begins at 7 p.m. PT.

Tickets are on sale at the CenturyLink Field box office, by calling 1-877-MLS-GOAL, visiting www.SoundersFC.com or through Ticketmaster. Tickets are general admission and priced at $16 for covered grandstand and $12 for uncovered bleachers.

The Sounders FC-Kitsap winner advances to the quarterfinal round to meet the L.A. Galaxy-Los Angeles Blues winner. If Seattle advances the match would be played at Starfire Sports Stadium. Quarterfinal play begins on July 12.

Kitsap, a member of the USL Premier Development League, advanced to the third round by beating the Real Colorado Foxes, 3-1, in Bremerton on Tuesday. Sounders FC and the other seven MLS teams enter Open Cup play at the third round stage.

The Sounders FC-Kitsap match will be streamed live on SoundersFC.com with Arlo White on the call. Streaming for the match is free and will begin approximately 20 minutes before first kick.

In 2010 Seattle became the first club in 27 years to successfully retain the Open Cup. Sounders FC defeated the Columbus Crew, 2-1, at home in the final before a record crowd of 31,311.

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, the U.S. Soccer Federation's National Championship, is an annual competition open to all amateur and professional soccer teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. Begun in 1914, it is the oldest annual team tournament in U.S. sports history and among the oldest soccer tournaments of its type in the world.
